Pennine Bridleway

Pennine Bridleway

Length >60km
Max transport gap >20km

A walk (or ride) of 593km between Middleton Top and Cote Moor.

The northern terminus lies 7km from Kirkby Stephen station — so that’s the 600km up! Public transport connections (45 locations, 3 matrices) are available throughout, though with some long gaps in the far north. Please note that the bus and rail connections in the matrix set are for the use of walkers, not horses. The nature of the route does not make it easy to select multi-day base stations.

Observations

Although the route was designed for equestrian use, the majority of its use is now dominated by off-road cyclists, and walkers should note that path quality may be diminished by the depredations from hooves and tyres.
