Clyde Coastal Path

Clyde Coastal Path

Length >60km
Max transport gap <10km

A 67km path between Partick and Wemyss Bay.

Public transport links for the entire “Clyde Way” (Clyde Walkway, Clyde Coastal Path, Ayrshire Coastal Path and Loch Ryan Coastal Path — 111 locations, 9 matrices) are widely available in and to the north of the Ayr conurbation, and at strategic points to the south. The entire route of this section has good connections with Glasgow, and Greenock/Gourock might form a western base station.

Observations

There are links to the Clyde Walkway at Partick and the Ayrshire Coastal Path at Wemyss Bay. There is an upland alternative route between Greenock and Wemyss Bay: this avoids a lot of walking beside busy roads, but involves much more serious route-finding. There is also a second eastern start/endpoint at Milngavie (for the West Highland Way).
